It’s only Tuesday and you’re eating takeout, again.
Maybe it’s pizza, chinese or Chipotle. It does the job but you know you could be eating better. You also want to eat less sugar, but find yourself buying ice cream and chocolate chip cookies at the store. And as you go to bed you realize the only vegetable you ate was your baby’s pureed peas, and vow to buy some kale tomorrow. But between the computer, laundry, and diapers it’s all too easy to grab whatever’s in front of you, even if that means popcorn for dinner.
I get it. I’ve been there too.
When I first had my daughter Claire, I was full of overwhelm, excitement, laughter and tears. My whole life had changed from one day to the next and it took me a while (months in fact!) to find a new rhythm. A rhythm that felt like the old me, but better. A rhythm that incorporated my love of healthy living with the demands of new mama-hood. A rhythm that understands “mama-time.” A rhythm that felt like I wasn’t constantly running uphill and resorting to takeout and processed carbs.
It didn’t happen overnight (there were many days when I wondered if I’d ever fit into my old clothes again), but with a bit of patience and gentle discipline, I learned how to nurture my new self in a way that made me feel like me again.
So what changed?
I got back in the kitchen and cleaned up my diet.
I ditched the processed junk and started eating more greens. I drank more water. I cooked simple, whole foods for me and my family. And I continued to take deep breaths when things got a little crazy.
After a few months, not only did I finally fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans, I had my energy back, no longer relied on takeout and pizza and actually smiled when I saw my reflection in the mirror. It felt so good.
And the best part was the better I felt, the better everything else around me became too.
I want to help you do the same.
For mamas everywhere, we’ll spend two months together nourishing our bodies with delicious whole foods, learning how to cook fresh, healthy meals for our families, and sharing our best tips and resources for healthy living. You will also get plenty of inspiration, support and understanding while having fun and connecting to other mamas like you.
Here’s what past Healthy Mamas had to say about my program:
“I joined Healthy Mama thinking I would get a few easy and healthy recipes. But, boy was I in for a treat. The Healthy Mama program recipes are super easy. It also gave me the opportunity to connect to other mamas and learn so much. The discussions were very thoughtful and informative.“-Guille
“Cameron’s recipes, tips and weekly goals — along with the great email conversation with all the Mamas — were just what I needed! Getting her emails with delicious-sounding recipes was the inspiration I needed to focus on our eating again, and it was definitely reinforced by hearing about the creative and tasty dishes the other Mamas made, too. Cooking good, healthy meals has become a regular part of my routine again“-Sarah
